Missions
I consider it an honor to be part of this meaningful work and am grateful to help steward this mission alongside such a passionate and committed team. I learned about New Life Warehouse from a monthly neighborhood article featuring the founder, Stephanie Haile. I was so moved by her mission that I started collecting ,volunteering, staging, and delivering.

We then personally deliver the furniture to their homes and help set all of the items up, from rugs to pictures on the wall. It is a gift to be Granada House Review able to share God’s blessing with those in need. House members draw strength from each other during and long after their stay at our sober living homes. We are much more than just a sober living home with members who are friends–we are a family.
Sober Living Homes
Granada House has been helping young men cultivate a way of living they can be proud of since 1985. Our structured sober living in Los Angeles, California have paved the way for young men to create successful lives and fulfilling futures. With the help of our program structure, caring staff, loving community and decades of experience, we can build something beautiful… together. The managers and directors spend a great deal of time with each house member, checking in with them, discussing their goals, fears, and decisions.
I was introduced to New Life Warehouse by one of their dedicated volunteers. With her encouragement, my husband and our 3 kids signed up to help with a Saturday furniture delivery. Being part of a ministry that transforms lives by offering comfort and dignity to individuals and families is incredibly fulfilling. Howard Barker handles all of the outreach and community engagement at Granada House. He works to spread education and awareness on issues surrounding mental health and substance abuse as well as help families navigate the difficult waters of getting a loved one help. Howard has spent the past 8 years working with young adults and their families, being a support during times of crisis.
Additionally, a staff member oversees all house activities and manages it. Thus, the staff can address any concerns and make sure the residents feel comfortable in their temporary living arrangements. Halfway houses for addiction recovery are often located in desirable neighborhoods, providing the feeling of any other residence in the area. The safety and comfort levels of halfway homes are similar to those experienced in residential and intensive outpatient programs. While this is a step in the right direction, again, for Granada House residents, this model is generally not sufficient.
I quickly transitioned from donor to volunteer as I learned about the mission of helping people start over. I never realized so many people in Tampa were sleeping on the floor because they couldn’t afford beds, or eating on their laps because they didn’t have dinner tables. Although New Life Warehouse delivers furniture and other basic necessities, it’s not about the furniture. It’s about hope, and acts of generosity and kindness that can truly make a difference in people’s lives. It’s about sharing the love of Christ in a tangible and personal way. It’s been a blessing to volunteer with New Life Warehouse and serve as a board member.
We restore hope, dignity and stability by delivering donated furniture to families recovering from homelessness. Similarly, we take a gradual approach to re-introducing different aspects of independent living. For example, at the beginning of the program, residents will use a house phone instead of a cell phone to disconnect from digital distractions and social media. They can better focus on their mental health and emotional growth.
